An incident stopped a train near Rommily-la-Puthenaye (Eure), on the Caen-Paris line, Sunday November 24, 2024 around 8:50 p.m.
The bad weather caused by the passage of storm Bert led to the fall of a tree on a catenarydepriving the route of electricity supply, as specified by the SNCF on the social network X (formerly Twitter).
The storm then the wild boars
According to the Bernay gendarmerie company, 450 passengers were on board this train numbered 3348, which had no heating or lighting. In order to assist them, firefighters from Neubourg, Beaumont-le-Roger and Conches-en-Ouche intervened on the scene, as well as SNCF agentsa railway security team from Étreux and the gendarmes.
Once the branches were cleared, the power could be turned back on. And the train leaves, around 11:30 p.m., in the direction of Saint-Lazare station.
But barely ten minutes later, traffic is interrupted again on the entire Caen-Paris linebecause this TER 3348 found itself damaged after hitting wild boars near Conches-en-Ouche. As a result, the following trains are also stopped.
The passengers of 3348 were transferred a few hours later to an emergency oar. And all the passengers from Normandy only finally arrived in Paris in the early morning, after a long night of hardship.
