Was the Banque de France hacked? The “ethical” hacker SaaX relayed over the weekend a data leak which would concern the institution. Cybercriminals say they have stolen items such as “complete employee files (identities, positions, salaries, addresses, etc.)”as well as the “Sensitive customer information: identities, bank accounts and transaction histories”, “confidential internal documents (strategies, financial reports, sensitive communications)…”
This Monday, November 25, the communications department of the Banque de France affirms West France that “ there was no attack on the secure information system”. On the other hand, the Banque de France recognizes that “there was occasional external access to an HR (human resources) extranet. But no sensitive personal or financial data was compromised.” The institution closed the extranet site affected by this cybercriminal visit.
Blurry on a data theft at SFR
The group of cybercriminals who put their loot on sale for $10,000, after having posted it at $50,000, therefore lowered it “without much explanation” observed on the Linkedin network, Clément Domingo, the SaaX ethical hacker. This would be the same group of hackers who recently attacked hospitals in the Paris region, Direct Assurances and even the media Le Point.
There is also confusion over a theft of 3.6 million data from the telephone operator SFR. The latter denied it but the cybercriminals then published the stolen database for free. To prove that they really had the emails, address, date of birth, etc. It remains to be seen whether this is a new take or just a recycling of the data already stolen in September. There have been so many leaks in recent weeks.
