Jegou-Auradou affair: why the players of the XV of France, indicted for rape, will not be determined this Monday on their request for dismissal

They will not be decided on their fate this Monday, November 25, as they could have hoped. Oscar Jegou and Hugo Auradou will have to wait again before knowing if the request for dismissal, made by their lawyers, is accepted by the Argentine justice system.

The two players from the French XV, aged 21, have been indicted for aggravated rape since last July, accused by a 39-year-old Argentinian woman. According to her testimony, the two young men raped her in a hotel in Mendoza, after a disputed meeting with the rugby Blues.

This Monday, the Argentine justice system began to examine the request to drop the charges at the Mendoza judicial center. But according to Le Parisien-Today in Francewhich cites several local media, no decision is expected this evening. The debates have not yet led to a decision, and they must resume tomorrow at 9 a.m. local time (1 p.m. in France).

The lawyers of Oscar Jegou and Hugo Auradou remain resolutely optimistic. At the beginning of October, the prosecution had in fact requested that the charges be dropped in the face of an initial accusation which had “lost its force”.

After a period of detention and house arrest in Argentina, the two players were authorized to return to France in September and resumed competition with their clubs (Pau for Hugo Auradou, La Rochelle for Oscar Jegou).
