Two of the most recent safety recalls issued by Ford target more than 30,000 vehicles in Canada, mainly the Maverick compact pickup truck.
On 21,212 examples from 2022 to 2024, a software problem could cause the reversing camera image to not display or freeze when the vehicle is reversing. The same issue was the subject of a recall earlier this year, but we are now seeing that it is more widespread than expected.
Problems with backup cameras are commonplace, and so are recalls. Again, luckily the solution is a simple software update. However, this must be done at a dealership and not remotely.
It is good to point out that the Maverick 2025, which benefits from several changes including a 13.2-inch touch screen, is not affected.
Secondly, Ford Canada is recalling 10,109 Mavericks, Bronco Sport and Mustang Mach-Es from the year 2023 exclusively due to a windshield wiper motor that may not have been manufactured correctly and malfunction, compromising the visibility for the driver. These three models are assembled in Mexico, but in two different factories.
Once again, this recall replaces another that was issued earlier in 2024. Examples that have already been repaired do not need a second repair, however.
Affected owners will need to take their vehicle to a dealership to have the windshield wiper motor inspected and replaced if necessary.
