The village of La Motte-d'Aigues, nestled in Vaucluse, was the scene of a tragedy this Sunday. Shortly after 6 p.m., a fire, the origin of which remains to be determined, ravaged a house located on rue de La Tour.
As our colleagues at Dauphiné Libéréfirefighters quickly arrived on site to stop the fire and rescue people potentially present inside the building. After entering the home, the emergency services could only note that the 54-year-old tenant had died.
An ongoing investigation
Five emergency vehicles were mobilized to control the fire and the gendarmes of the Pertuis company, present on site, quickly took the decision to open an investigation in order to determine the exact circumstances of this fire which cost the life of a woman.
Technicians specializing in criminal identification were called in for reinforcements from Avignon. Their expertise could prove decisive in determining whether the fire was accidental or intentional. In the case of an accidental fire, it will then be necessary to find out what caused the fire to start. For the moment, no hypothesis is favored by the police.
