The storm Caetano caused many power outagesin Eure. This was particularly the case in the commune of Thuit-de-l'Oison, where households in more than sixty streets were concerned, from Thursday November 21, 2024 in the afternoon.

Solidarity in the commune was quickly established. Faced with conflicting information on the network restoration time, Mayor Gilbert Doubet decided to activate aid for residents.

A refuge for locals

The leisure center was open on Friday the 22nd in the morning, when electricity was restored. This center allowed those who wished to to warm upcharge their phone, and enjoy a hot drink. Messages were sent to residents via social media to inform them. It would have been possible to organize sleeping in the center if the situation had continued on Friday evening.

With the winter weather, it's a relief to be warm, especially for the children.

Several people, often accompanied by childrenfound themselves at the leisure center. Julien Petit is one of them. “In Thuit-Simer, we have had no power since Thursday 2 p.m. With the winter weather, it's a relief to be warm, especially for the children. A big thank you to the community. »

“Living together is essential, as is solidarity between neighbors. We pay particular attention to this at these times. We plan to accommodate up to 20 people,” says Christine Van Duffel, first assistant.

Elected officials made visits to ensure everyone’s needs. “An elderly person was without power even though she saw a light from the neighbors. It was just a circuit breaker to trip, it's done! » explains André Odienne, deputy mayor.

The situation returned to normal

Enedis' intervention made it possible to restore the network in the center of Thuit-Signol on Friday morning. Only the Bosc Féré sector, restored on Friday around 6 p.m., and Thuit Simer, where a high voltage cable was broken, remained to be supplied. Enedis technicians worked until the evening, in difficult conditions, and at 9 p.m., the electricity supplier informed that the situation had returned to normal, to the great relief of the residents.

The town hall informs that it will provide certificates, among other things for insurance, if necessary for residents who have suffered damage, such as to the contents of freezers.
