comics join the stamp and postcard market

The 42e edition of the stamp, postcard and old paper exchange, organized by the Argenton Philatelic Club on Saturday November 16 and Sunday November 17, 2024, has expanded this year, by introducing, for the first time, comic strips. Six dealers and seven illustrators brought new energy. “ The idea was to rejuvenate visitors with younger collections », Explains Jean-François Tissier, president of the club. “ We made this choice because comic book illustrators are often also postcard illustrators. and we have amateurs and collectors here. » Installed on the stage of the Jean-Frappat room, the comic book authors signed their albums and interacted with visitors.

The challenge of bringing together two different audiences

Among them, Claude Turier is an Argenton illustrator. The latter, creator of a rather traditional comic strip, which says “ very attached to Peyo “, love above all ” tell stories “. With his screenwriter David Verdier, he has already published five albums. “ We do not despair that there is a correlation between the two audiences, that of stamps and postcards and that of comic strips; in any case today people are interested “, he declared on the first day of the show.

There were seven designers during this weekend, including Biber-Lu, Pierre Roux and Jean-Marc Desloges. Everyone was available to discuss with the numerous visitors, as with each edition of the philatelic and cartophilic exchange.
