“An Endemol program is defined editorially, it is authentic, we do not disguise reality and it is local”, assures Jean-Louis Blot at the head of an entertainment giant, Monday November 25, which celebrates its 30th anniversary, the audiovisual production company Endemol France at the origin of the “Star Academy”, “Drag Race”, ” Secret Story”, “Children of TV”, “Les 12 coups de midi”, “Prodiges”, “LOL: who laughs, comes out” and even “Le Bigdil” celebrates its 30th anniversary. In total, there are around 150 programs, according to calculations by its president, which have been broadcast over three decades. Jean-Louis Blot, president of Endemol France, specifies that there are currently around twenty programs being broadcast.
Endemol France is also surfing on nostalgia like its competitors and relaunching old programs like “Star Academy”, “Secret Story” and soon “Bigdil”. It is not for lack of ideas, according to Jean-Louis Blot, that producers rush into this niche, but simply to meet the needs of viewers. “Today, he said, we live in a slightly complicated world, where threats are strong, where anxiety is high, viewers, listeners need comfort zones, comfort zones, these are the comfort programs.”
Shows that do good, that take us back to a time when everything was good and that simply make us feel better. As proof, he cites the success of “Star Academy” and “Enfants de la Télé” and “then the games we watched when we were younger and which come back do us good”, he adds.
“We work on a lot of areas and we wonder if we’re going to create content for social networks. We already work with a lot of platforms,” explains Jean-Louis Blot. Endemol France would like to relaunch brands like “Love Story”, one of the cult shows and “La Fureur”. A program which was presented by Arthur then by Alexandre Devoise and which set fire to our living rooms on Saturday evening. A prospect that delights him: “We sing, we have fun, we dance, we forget the current events a little, we gather around hits”, indicates Jean-Louis Blot. “We would very much like to be, once again, those who will create the television of tomorrow. That’s why we will invest a lot in creation,” he confides.
