Heavy. On December 5, remembers

For 21 years, every December 5, has paid tribute to all those who “Died for France” during the Algerian war and the conflicts in Morocco and Tunisia. It was 8 years of murderous war during which 23,000 fighters fell for France, including those who fell after the ceasefire of March 19, 1962, because the war did not stop that day. 150,000 Harkis were massacred, 25,000 “pieds-noirs” disappeared, 300 soldiers taken prisoner by the FLN. On that day, we will remember all those dead and missing, as well as the victims of attacks and abuses, and the millions of returnees.

Sixty-two years after the end of the conflict, the legacy of the Algerian War is marked by the suffering it created. On this Remembrance Day, the Federation of Veterans and Souvenir Français invite their members and the population to attend the ceremonies which will take place on Thursday, December 5.

At 10:15 a.m., a rally will take place in front of the town hall. Then, at 10:30 a.m., a mass will be celebrated in the parish church. The official ceremony will be held at the War Memorial at 11:30 a.m. Finally, at 11:45 a.m., a reception will be offered in the Terrace room.
