After several months of hard work, rehearsals are ending for the thirty-eight citizen actors involved in the incredible artistic project that is Les Fresques Darnétalaises. Following the popular success of Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert, in 2022, and the unknown Jean-Baptiste Curmer, the following year, it was once again Jean-Marie Dehut, deputy in charge of city policy , social affairs and housing who set about writing the live show: From the banks of the Robec, immersion in the tales of Maupassant. A story written around the tales Boule de suif, La ficelle and La farce normande.
Some of the amateur actors have been there since the beginning
And, it is the faithful among the faithful, François Généreux de la Littoralité Francophone who staged all the paintings with his professionalism and rigor. “It is a theatrical transposition around the history of the Normans from which Darnétal has not escaped. Above all, it’s an adventure for our entire group, many of whose members have been there almost from the beginning. It’s an expectation for them every year, it brings them vitality, dignity, an appointment that keeps them on their feet. This is also the Norman spirit,” declared the director.
Special edition (and maybe the last?) in 2025
The public will therefore be able to once again experience the truth, the simple and the talent of these committed inhabitants, dressed as gendarmes, mayors, four-season merchants or 19th century bourgeois. And we will have to take advantage of it, because if in 2025, for the 20th edition, Jean-Marie Dehut plans a special edition around the large costume gallery, it could be the last. So run for it!
