Striptease, transformationism, nightclub… The activities of seniors in rest homes are diversifying

The emotional and sexual lives of seniors are taken more seriously. On the Charleroi side, CPAS seniors organize activities on the subject, in particular calling on sexual guides from the non-profit organization Aditi WB to talk about sex toys or even masturbation. “Recognizing and encouraging the sexual life of older people is a good thing but everything depends on how it is done. This must be organized with respect for the residents and the people who provide the entertainment because very often it is a matter of of Club Med activities that stupidize residents”comments Pierre Marage, the Godfather of the Gang of Angry Old People.

The presence of striptease should in no case be imposed, insists the Gang. “It all depends on the public, it’s not something that can be done in all nursing homes.”believes Michelle Desormeaux. “When I proposed such an activity, we refused because it might not be well received.”confirms Youssef Kaddar, specialized educator and president of the ASLB Papy Booom.

A daring birthday at the Heiberg retirement home: striptease on the program

In Wallonia, some Carolus rest homes invite transformists to entertain residents. The non-profit organization Papy Booom offers activities that are also a little out of the ordinary. “We took residents to the nightclubs Le Mirano, Lift and Spirito several times. The idea is that they discover today’s music and dance with young people. They need to have fun. We also organize an interhome speed dating to create meetings, e-sport, etc.”, explains Youssef Kaddar. “We must not hesitate to become a social actor and knock on doors. The management is quite cautious and has a very medical view of the residents even though they especially want to have experiences.”
