“We do not support” the LFI proposal, confirms the boss of PS deputies Boris Vallaud

The deputies of La France insoumise have tabled a bill aimed at repealing the offense of advocating terrorism from the penal code.

“We do not support” the LFI bill, confirmed Sunday, November 24, the leader of the socialist deputies, Boris Vallaud, in “Political Questions” on franceinfo, France Inter and The World. He reacted to the bill tabled by rebel Ugo Bernalicis, which aims to eliminate the offense of advocating terrorism created by a 2014 law, believing that in this matter “the law of July 29, 1881 dealing with facts relating to the offenses of apologizing for crime, apologizing for war crimes, apologizing for crimes against humanity” is sufficient.

For Boris Vallaud, “without a country like ours, which has been regularly bereaved by terrorism, the criminal repression of provocation and apology is necessary to the fight against terrorism itself”. He therefore does not support the rebels' proposal.

“There was a priority question of constitutionality in May 2018”he recalls, to decide on the question of whether this 2014 law could have “provisions likely to undermine freedom of expression” but the response was negative, considering that “this article of law was sufficiently precise not to expose it to arbitrariness”.
