“Are you happy?” » we ask Bahman Mohammad. “There is no one happier than me!” »replies the young baker in the laboratory of his bakery at Fournil du Val-d'Atur. Among his employees and apprentices who are busy making choux pastry, chocolatines and other sandwiches, he evolves like a fish in water. A radiant and childish smile seems to permanently illuminate the young man's face.

Since he left his Afghanistan natal to rally the Dordogne in 2012 at the age of 16, he continues to advance and learn. “Taking over other companies is always additional experience with other ways of producing and operating. I love learning. »

Today, he owns three bakeries: the Fournil du Petit Change, the Fournil du Val-d'Atur and, more recently, the Lesparat bakery, all three in Boulazac-Isle-Manoire. He has another development project planned for 2025, the secrets of which he has not revealed. It employs 27 people. “We don’t have time to be bored”he confirms, even though his journey has not always been simple. “It’s where we see deep within ourselves what we are capable of”he states simply.

As part of Transmission-Resumption Month, the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region, the Regional Chamber of Trades and Crafts (CMA) are mobilized via the Cities and Villages of Recovery operation. It aims to highlight local authorities who work to promote the transfer and takeover of craft businesses. In Dordogne, it was Grand Périgueux which won the Grail.

The visit to three emblematic companies of this theme in the region took place on Thursday, November 7: the Fournil du Val d'Atur, Elmer Boulangerie in Coulounieix-Chamiers and the Hairdressing Workshop in Périgueux. “The idea was to show examples of successful takeovers, exceptional journeys which have been supported »explained Marie Besson, responsible for economic development at the Dordogne Nouvelle-Aquitaine Chamber of Trades and Crafts.
