It was the septuagenarian herself who raised the alarm with a neighbor around 6:30 p.m., immediately after the tragedy. This neighbor then contacted the police and emergency services. When they arrived at the couple's apartment, the firefighters and emergency services noted that the victim was in cardio-respiratory arrest and could not be revived. It seems that the murder was committed during an altercation which degenerated, with the septuagenarian being suspected of having stabbed her husband several times.
Both were unknown to the courts. Furthermore, no precedent of domestic violence concerning this couple had been brought to the attention of the police, Le Dauphiné Libéré also learned.
