The national DuoDay system allows a person with a disability to carry out one day of training in duet with an ordinary professional to share his daily work.

The Bon Sauveur de la Manche Foundation actively participates in this initiative which took place this year Thursday November 21, 2024despite two defections due to snow, notably in a green space maintenance companyor due to no bus for a person expected at Districenter.

In pairs with a teammate

Despite the snow fell in abundance in the early hours of the day, Virginie came by bike from the city center to be on time at Lidl at 9 a.m., in Valognes.

Always accompanied in pairs by a versatile team member, she participated throughout the day, interspersed with a lunch breakat the “box picker”, at the shelving and at storage of productsIn several areas of the storemoving from dry products to frozen products.

It's my first DuoDay in Valognes since I've been at Esat, where I arrived in 2016, and I really like it. I find that the pace is calmer than at Esat. The work is less difficult than in the kitchen workshop where I work.

Nadia Roulland, insertion manager at Esat de Valognes, consulted several months previously on the DuoDay website, the list of companies offering to offer a day of discovery of the profession to a person with a disability.

It turns out that Sandrine Godefroy, director of the Lidl store in Valognes, has welcomed, every year for four years, a person wishing to spend a day as part of their professional project and they had no difficulty in finding among their team members people who were very enthusiastic about the idea to support an intern.

“The important thing is to introduce the person with a disability, volunteering for this DuoDay, to the professional environment they have chosen in their integration process. This year, six people working at Esat were up for it. It's just one day, but it often makes them want to go further. Esat supports everyone in their project, at their own pace,” says Nadia Roulland in conclusion.
