Odile Malfray, 81, had been missing since November 19. Friday, his body was found lifeless in a bag by a walker in Blois. The octogenarian's neighbor was taken into police custody.
Chilling discovery this Friday for a walker, between Blois and Saint-Gervais-la-Forêt. The swollen body of Odile Malfray, whose disappearance was reported earlier in the week, lies curled up in a bag, three kilometers from her home.
On Tuesday, the octogenarian's son-in-law had informed the police of the latter's disappearance, worrying about “not having any news”.
According to the Blois public prosecutor, investigators then discovered traces of blood (…) some of which were cleaned up at the victim's home.
Neighborhood problems concerning water leaks, which the elderly woman allegedly had, were also noted at that time.
Gray areas remain
At the time of its discovery, the victim's body showed traces of laceration at the neck, was folded in on itself and had “his face smashed”.
The autopsy is scheduled for Monday to determine whether the beatings were inflicted before or after the death of Odile Malfray.
Blésoise's neighbor was arrested and taken into custody on Friday. The latter admitted to having discovered the lifeless body of his neighbor and to having moved it to the woods. He also claims to have cleaned up the traces of blood, but denies being behind the homicide.
The latter has no criminal record, as prosecutor Charlotte Beluet clarified. She also recalled that the prosecution had opened an investigation for “intentional homicide”.
