Which cities in are good places to live for seniors? Monday November 18, 2024the newspaper Le Figaro published the ranking of 1,000 French cities where life is sweetest for people aged over 60.

Son palmarès, Le Figaro has broken it down into several classifications with cities with more than 100,000 inhabitants, cities with more than 40,000 inhabitants and those with less than 40,000 inhabitants. According to Le Figaro is one of the cities of more than 40,000 inhabitants where life is the sweetest for seniors.

The city of the Veneti finished in third place in the ranking of medium-sized towns behind Les Sables-d’Olonne et Saint-Malo. Here are the ranks obtained according to the ranking obtained by Le Figaro :

  • Demographics: 10
  • Leisure-culture-sport: 15
  • Vols : 44
  • Environment: 39

1,000 municipalities studied for classification

Health, shops, leisure, security, environment… To carry out this exclusive classification, Le Figarocompared data from 1,000 French municipalities of more than 9,000 inhabitants sur the base of 35 criteria.

Criteria “which appear essential for those over 60”, is indicated in the methodology.

Several indicators are taken into account

How is this ranking obtained? “Each municipality is ranked in relation to the others, on the basis of 35 varied criteria. Each city thus obtains an average rank for each theme, which we weight by coefficients and in certain cases by a bonus-malus system,” explains Le Figaro .

Thanks to the ranks obtained in each of the thematic rankings we obtain a final ranking, also weighted by coefficients. The criteria and coefficients are adapted to what we believe to be the expectations of Le Figaro readers.
