Some will have to stop at the voting booths. Sunday November 24, 2024, the inhabitants of Villeroy (Seine-et-Marne) are invited to go to the polls as part of thecomplementary municipal partial election.
The objective? Elect two municipal councilors.
Context
The elections are made necessary by the death of the mayor, Guy Lathelizewho had been in office since 2020, disappeared during the month of September, but also through the resignation of a municipal councilor, Hervé Bourillonin December 2023. “It is appropriate to organize complementary partial municipal elections in the commune of Villeroy in order to fill the vacant seatsbefore proceeding with the election of the mayor”, indicated the prefecture of Seine-et-Marne in its decree of last Wednesday October 2.
Two seats are thus to be filled in this election, which will make it possible to bring together an entire council. Nevertheless, “no one is elected in the first round if they have not obtained an absolute majority of the votes cast.and a number of votes equal to a quarter of that of registered voters,” explains the prefecture. Likewise, if a second round takes place, “the election takes place by relative majority, regardless of the number of voters. If several candidates obtain the same number of votes, the election is won by the oldest.”
Who shows up?
Candidates are Benoît Barbaouat, Daniel Baron, Valérie Carnet de Macedo, Laurent Cazalis, Laeticia Corcy Goapper, Fabien Courtier, Jean-Christophe Étoile, Mathias Hanusiak, Tanja Herzog, Ludovic Lemeray, Victor Moreno, and Gilles Mouny.
A second round could, if necessary, be held the following Sunday, the 1is December.
