It is a convict deemed dangerous who escaped from the Thuir psychiatric hospital center this Friday, November 22. The site has a specialized service for prisoners. The man was sentenced in September 2023 to 10 years in prison for extortion and vehicle fire by the Hérault Assize Court.
Incarcerated in Perpignan since his conviction, the escapee was recently transferred to the Thuir psychiatric hospital center. The exact circumstances of his escape remain to be determined.
This man was tried with two other men, including his brother, for a fatal shooting in the Devèze district of Béziers on July 16, 2019. A 26-year-old man was shot and killed. He was not involved in the shooting and was killed by a stray bullet. Another young adult was injured. It was a shooting with heavy weapons, numerous shell casings were found on site.
The shooter was sentenced to 15 years for murder. The brother of the escapee was sentenced to 12 years in prison for attempted murder. And so the escaped inmate gets 10 years in prison. He was up for release in December 2033.
