Comprehensive support
The AP-HP university hospital group (GHU). Paris Seine-Saint-Denis offers comprehensive, multidisciplinary care for obesity, which brings together the bariatric and metabolic surgery teams of Professor Christophe Tresallet and the endocrinology-diabetology-nutrition teams of Professor Emmanuel Cosson. The treatment offer includes:
– consultations with healthcare professionals to set up a suitable pathway (Avicenne and Jean-Verdier hospitals);
– therapeutic education, particularly dietary education, associated with the resumption of physical activity (Jean-Verdier hospital) and exercise rehabilitation at the nutrition-obesity SMR (René-Muret hospital).
True joint work, the teams are made up of doctors, surgeons, psychologists, dieticians, adapted physical activity educators and coordination nurses. The three hospitals of the GHU Paris Seine-Saint-Denis offer a complete care pathway and are therefore fully committed to the public health challenge posed by obesity.
Strengthened expertise
Already labeled by the regional health agency (ARS) as a “specialized obesity center” (CSO) for the medical-surgical treatment of adult obesitythis new label reinforces the position of the GHU as a reference center in the Seine-Saint-Denis region. “ I am very proud, it is recognition of the quality of care that has been present for years »shighlights Dr Andrea Lazzati, digestive surgeon in the digestive, bariatric and endocrine surgery department.
Also, the service works in close collaboration with the internal teams, notably the sports medicine of Professor Thoreux and with the local health actors on the psychology and dietetics axis. “ In the future, we must strengthen our links with the city on the management of obesity. This involves local health stakeholders: health centers, territorial professional health communities and patient associations”, concluded Dr Andrea Lazzati.
