The snow day in Seine-Maritime, Thursday November 21, 2024, had its share of troubles on the roads and on the rails. Among these mishapsthere is that of the passengers of the Lille-Amiens-Rouen train, who remained stuck for 7 hours on a track!
The train was due to arrive in Rouen at 1:38 p.m.…
There were 32 of them. Among them Florian, who was returning from Arras, where he usually goes to see friends. “I took the direct train at 11:32 a.m., which was supposed to bring us to Rouen at 1:38 p.m.,” he says. As we approached Rouen, around 1:30 p.m., the train stopped. »
The train is then at the commune of Saint-Martin-du-Vivier, at the entrance to the Rouen metropolitan area. “The driver then told us that a tree had fallen on the track. At one point he tried to restart the train, without success: he then told us that there was no more power in the catenary because of the fallen tree. »
The hours go by, you have to be patient… Florian is reading, but as time passes, it starts to get cold in the train. “The controller decided to put us together in the first two carshe reports. In the early evening, around 8:30 p.m., the firefighters came to take care of us. We went on foot, in the snow, to reach the village hall of Saint-Martin-du-Vivier. There were elderly people and others with suitcases. »
Pick-up at the party hall
There, water and something to eat a little (chocolates, compotes) are brought to them. Finally, a bus came to pick them up to take them to Rouen station, where the travelers finally arrived around 9:30 p.m.
“The controller and the driver were impeccable, they did everything they could,” emphasizes Florian. But behind that we might wonder how we got there: stuck for 7 hours upon arrival from Rouen, near a level crossing, it's not as if we had found ourselves stuck in the middle of the countryside. »
“SNCF Voyageurs regrets the situation experienced by customers of train 848903”
On the side of the SNCF, we explain: “The bad weather linked to the Caetano depression caused significant damage to the Normandy railway infrastructure, in particular with power cuts at several points on the network (around 100 trees fell near the tracks ). This was felt by our travelers, who had a difficult day yesterday, and we are sorry for that.
SNCF Voyageurs regrets the situation experienced by customers of train 848903 Lille Amiens Rouen. The train was blocked near Morgny due to electrical failures caused by the presence of a tree on the catenary. Civil protection came to lend a hand to the SNCF teams to take care of the bus passengers and provide them with a meal before completing their transport.”
