At the end of October, an analysis of delinquency in the Southern Alps was made public by the Ministry of the Interior. The latter is based on several types of offenses which took place between July 2023 and June 2024.
The Ministry of the Interior published figures on delinquency in Hautes-Alpes and Alpes-de-Haute-Provence at the end of October. If the indicators are mainly increasing at the national level, the results are more mixed in the departments.
Among the data which experienced the greatest increase over the period between July 2023 and June 2024, sexual violence is up 20% in the Hautes-Alpes department, compared to 5% in the Alpes-de-Alpes. Haute-Provence.
No homicides recorded
Another key indicator in terms of personal attacks, no homicides have been recorded in Hautes-Alpes and Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. Only Creuse has the same record in the national metropolitan territory. On the other hand, attempted homicides are on the rise this year, with four additional victims in the Hautes-Alpes.
Violent unarmed thefts are mostly decreasing in Hautes-Alpes with a drop of 28%. For armed robberies, cases are increasing this year. Residents of Hautes-Alpes have had little experience of burglaries with around fifteen fewer cases this year. Drug trafficking and use are increasing in the department (11%).
More burglaries in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence
Unarmed and armed thefts are decreasing in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence department. Residents are experiencing a 33% increase in the number of burglaries.
A notable reduction in intentional assault and battery, and scams, and means of payment fraud with around a hundred fewer offenses in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence. Finally, the use of narcotics is increasing, around a hundred people have been arrested. For its part, traffic is decreasing.
