Mother is suspected of murder
It was ultimately the baby's mother, a 30-year-old Austrian according to local media, who informed investigators where her child's body was located. Very quickly, suspicions fell on her, particularly because access to the neonatology department is not authorized to just anyone. It was therefore unlikely that someone outside the baby's family circle would have taken him out of the hospital. She gave information, during her interrogation overnight from Thursday to Friday, leading to the infant's body. But police have not confirmed that the young woman admitted to putting her baby in the dumpster.

The mother was therefore arrested and is suspected of murder. An investigation has been opened to determine the circumstances of the tragedy and the exact causes of death. According to initial findings, the baby could have died of cold, given the winter temperatures affecting the Austrian city.
