At the Amérian gardens, Florian Soyer grows organic vegetables

In the middle of his plots in Saint-Aubin-Fosse-Louvain (-Mayenne), Florian Soyer seems in his element. As a child, I was always outside. When I was 14, my father prepared a small greenhouse for me. I sowed annual plants there to offer them for sale to individuals, he remembers. Later, I always worked in the horticultural or landscaping sector in companies in Changé or Gorron.

After Covid, he decided to set up as an organic market gardener in Saint-Aubin-Fosse-Louvain.

Crop diversification

After training at ADEARM and the Chamber of Agriculture, he gradually developed his activity. At the beginning, I had 1,000 m² in open field with 250 m² of tunnel. Today, the gardens represent 3,000 m² and 550 m² of tunnel. The total surface area of 8,000 m² is well oriented with a large body of water to provide irrigation.

No cold room, I offer what was picked the evening before or in the morning to keep the freshness and taste of the product .

Cultivated areas are increasing, varieties are diversifying the cucamelon (candied cucumber) is all the rage! I plan other new developments in 2025.”

Florian Soyer sells his products on the farm on Fridays from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., in grocery stores, at the Céaucé and Gorron markets (even weeks), and on the Locavore platform.
