It’s a surprise that the Carrefour Saran hypermarket could have done without. This Friday, November 22, when they arrived at 5 a.m., the employees noticed that all the refrigerators in the store had stopped. According to our information, the latter were at 12 degrees instead of the 2 to 4 degrees required depending on the types of food.

The cold chain having been broken, the store had no other solution than to empty its shelves and throw away the food. Dairy products, meat, cold meats and catering dishes are particularly impacted. Reached by telephone, the store explains that, on the other hand, freezers and therefore frozen products have not been affected. Information panels and beacons have been deployed in the store to inform customers and prevent them from helping themselves to the affected products.

The power cut occurred during the night. The cause: storm Caetano, which has hit the Centre-Val de region since Thursday November 21 and whose strong winds and snowfall have led to numerous power cuts in the region. In Loiret, 1,800 customers who are still impacted.

The store's electricity supply was restored around 11 a.m., Enedis, the network manager, informs us, and the shelves are therefore gradually being replenished. It is currently unknown how much damage this heavy loss will cause to the store.
