UPDATE. Friday, November 22, 2024 at 4:40 p.m.: the tractors left the A43 motorway. Traffic is slowly becoming more fluid in the area.
Since this Friday, November 22, 2024, 2 p.m., farmers have been demonstrating in the north of Isère. Gathered to protest against a possible signing of the free trade agreement between the European Union and Mercosur, they are leading a snail operation on the A43.
The tractor procession entered the highway, linking Lyon to Grenoble or Chambéry, at Bourgoin-Jallieu.
Traffic on this busy route on Fridays is very disrupted. Update on the situation.
Miles of traffic jams
Farmers have been blocking the Lyon – Chambéry direction since 2 p.m. The procession must leave the A43 at exit number 9 at La-Tour-du-Pin.
The Isère prefecture has closed exit 8 (Coiranne interchange) towards the A43 – Chambéry. “Diversions are in place Banning the circulation of heavy goods vehicles over 3.5 tonnes,” state services specify.
While it takes less than 10 minutes to travel this stretch of highway, the journey is significantly longer.
