Cher reveals Tina Turner asked her for help after abusive relationship

Cher revealed that Tina Turner turned to her for help while struggling in an abusive relationship.

The late singer Turner, who died in May last year aged 83, was abused by her vicious ex-husband Ike.

In her memoir, Cher: The Memoir, Part One, the Strong Enough singer recounts helping The Best singer in the late 1970s.

She remembers Turner asking her how she left her own husband, Sonny Bono, whom she married in 1969 and divorced in 1975.

Cher recounted how Turner's plea reminded her of how she sought advice from Lucille Ball on leaving Bono.

She recalls: “I called Lucille Ball to ask her advice. I told her, 'Lucy, I want to leave Sonny and you're the only one I know who's been in the same situation. What should I do? »

Turner was married to Ike in 1962 and eventually divorced in 1978. She recounted in her own autobiography that she walked to a hotel one night after he beat her and never returned towards him.
