“They are terrified”, in Aveyron, a couple violently attacked by a man armed with a… club!

A man, born in 1965, was placed in pre-trial detention following a violent attack on his sister and brother-in-law, in Conques-en-Rouergue on November 14.

“A man adrift”. This is how André T., born in Decazeville in 1965, is presented. Thursday, November 14, the fifty-year-old, residing in Espalion for many years, violently attacked his sister and his brother-in-law at the help of a club! According to the first elements of the investigation, he entered their property in Conques-en-Rouergue while the couple was having lunch. He then allegedly hit his sister several times, the latter suffering from a fractured tibia and several other injuries: she was prescribed a 40-day ITT. Her husband was shot in the head. He has several wounds on his scalp and the phalanx of a finger, the index finger, was amputated following this violent attack. At the start of this week, the court opened a judicial investigation into acts of aggravated violence resulting in permanent disability, punishable by fifteen years in prison.

Family heritage

According to our information, this outburst of violence finds its origin in a story of inheritance. André T., on bad terms with his sister for around ten years, would have “uncapsulated”in the words of investigators, after suspecting his younger daughter of having squandered and embezzled the inheritance… Several complaints had already been filed in civil court. Expertised by psychiatrists, the alleged perpetrator would have triggered “a paranoid background” following this family feud. The alteration of his discernment at the time of the events was noted by an initial psychiatric assessment.

“Terrified”

For several years, the man had also suffered from depression and a precarious financial situation. Unemployed, after a career in construction, he had recently been sleeping in his car and had not made any request for a minimum income, the RSA. Presented before the Ruthenian magistrates this Monday, November 18, he was placed in pre-trial detention pending his trial. The lawyer for the civil parties, Me Pauline Loubière, has expressed the “fear” of her clients since the events. “They are terrified that he will come and finish what he started…” she confided.

During his various hearings, the Espalionnais admitted the facts.
