An elderly couple was found dead in their apartment on Wednesday October 13 in Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin). An investigation has been opened to determine the cause of death of the 86-year-old man and his 72-year-old wife.

An 86-year-old man and his 72-year-old wife were found dead at their home, in Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin), Wednesday October 13, 2024. Their lifeless bodies were discovered around 8 a.m. by the police. According to a police source cited by News Strasbourg the octogenarian was “hit by gunshot” while his wife “was lying in bed” without being injured.

It would not be femicide

An investigation was opened to determine the circumstances of the facts. In another article published Wednesday, November 20, our colleagues indicate that it may not be feminicide, according to the Strasbourg public prosecutor's office. Even if the possibility has not been definitively ruled out, investigators are still considering the natural death of the septuagenarian, who was ill, followed by the suicide of her husband.

The couple had lived in this building for four years and were not very close to their neighbors, according to their testimonies. Several firearms were reportedly found at the scene.
