Three PMU bars and restaurants in Landes appear in the “PMU – The 100 bars that make France” guide

14,200 establishments are associated with the horse racing betting company PMU, among them, 100 were selected by the journalists of Le Fooding magazine to constitute its very first guide of the hundred best PMU establishments in France, released Thursday November 14. Seven bars and restaurants in New Aquitaine are part of the selection, including three in Landes.

The Marcopaulo restaurant-bar-PMU in Rion-des-Landes appears in the guide “PMU – The 100 bars that make France”, which praises its atmosphere. A festive and friendly climate confirmed by the locals and regulars of this establishment which once belonged to the most famous Landes cook: Maïté. “It seems logical, in fact, that Marcopaulo is on the list, because it is qualitative, because we often meet up to drink and party“, smiles Florian, his elbow on the counter. He comes at least once a week with his colleagues, including Nicolas who emphasizes that “the boss is super nice, very nice“and that”the welcome is really very good, compared to other places“.

A place to bring together all the inhabitants of Rion-des-Landes

Marcopaulo is open from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. every day of the week except Monday evening, and it plays overtime on weekends.with music and broadcast of rugby matches, as well as all horse races“, adds Marc, the manager and chef of the establishment.
He didn't expect to appear in the guide at all, but sees it as a great reward: “I'm happy because it's a personal bet.“

“When I was young, there was a bar in Rion-des-Landes called Chez Papick. I accompanied my father and my grandfather on Sunday and Saturday morning for these convivial meetings in this bar and to play at PMU. I have these memories and it was close to my heart to have this in my bar, also for my village because there was not much left on Saturday and Sunday. I wasn't open in the evening a year ago, so it's also to develop this bar part, liven things up a little and get people moving. I wanted them to meet up around a drink, a coffee to bring a little life”, he concludes. A successful bet, since on a good day, up to 200 people flock to his establishment.
