The port of Bordeaux is still blocked by farmers on the evening of Thursday, November 21, where Rural Coordination continues to maintain pressure on the government. The Minister of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty of France Annie Genevard, visiting Pas-de-Calais with other farmers, said “hear” this anger and promises to relax the rules on pesticides.
“The debate will take place in Parliament, we will see,” she said on M6. I place myself resolutely from the producers’ point of view. We have leads. The principle is that what is authorized in European countries should be authorized in France. Why do we have overtranspositions? We cannot consider that the 26 other European countries, which grant authorization for treatments, are doing so with contempt for the population.”
For his part, François Veillerette, spokesperson for the Générations Futures association, jumped at these comments. “This would be a considerable step backwardseven though the state of the environment is increasingly worrying. We know that neonicotinoids are dangerous, not only for insects, but also for birds,” he explained on RTL this Thursday.
He mentioned a “completely retrograde” position on the part of the minister. “It absolutely must get its act together and stop giving in so easily to the attacks of agricultural unions,” believes François Veillerette.
