The wind is still blowing strong this Thursday. Haute-Corse is on yellow alert. Corsica-du-Sud will pass there from 5 p.m. Then the entire island will return to orange vigilance from 11 p.m. until at least 9 a.m. this Friday, November 22, Météo France announces.
Corsica is once again on orange wind alert this Friday. According to Météo France, the gusts should reach “up to 150 km/h on the Balagne coast and the north of Cap Corse, 100 to 120 km/h by surge on Conca and Porto-Vecchio, 90 to 100 km/h in the Basti region. Southern Corsica is also in yellow alert for wave-submersion and rain-flood phenomena. Upper Corsica is on yellow rain-flood and flood alert.

Over the past 24 hours, during the previous episode of orange vigilance, firefighters have intervened on numerous occasions. Around thirty interventions took place in Corsica-du-Sud, including around ten for fire outbreaks due to burn-out. Sis 2A calls for extreme cautionespecially since they are prohibited.
In Haute-Corse, firefighters carried out around forty interventions, including one for a roof torn off in the city center of Bastia. But also a major fire, now under control, in Pietra di Verde, which destroyed 22 hectares of vegetation.
