road checks by the Ham gendarmes Thursday November 21

An operation of road checks and the fight against delinquency was set up by the gendarmes, Thursday November 21, 2024, in the municipalities of Ham, Eppeville and Muille-Villette. From 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., the police forces of the Ham territorial brigade were positioned in large numbers, in strategic locations, such as the castle esplanade, in order to carry out usage checks.

Six checkpoints in Ham, Eppeville and Muille-Villette

Alcohol and drug tests, vehicle maintenance (insurance, license, smooth tires, faulty headlights), the gendarmes carried out various checks at a total of six checkpoints. “We have increased the number of meeting points to prevent the police from being spotted too quickly by motorists,” describes Major Gaudefroy, commander of the Ham brigade.
Warrant officers Martin and Szewcow supervised the device which brought together around ten gendarmes. “We wanted to mark the occasion », adds the major.

Exercise caution during winter

However, the goal is very preventative: “With night falling earlier in winter and more dangerous traffic conditions, there is a risk of additional accidents. Motorists are encouraged to exercise caution and press a little less hard on the mushroom…”.

The roads to Péronne and Nesle monitored

If the figures concerning the number of fatal accidents are significant in the (23 deaths in the first half of 2024), the Ham sector remains relatively unaffected. We have to go back to June 2024 for an accident of this importance. It was in Eppeville, where a woman died after a collision with a truck, near the Germany bridge.

«In the sector, there are two areas where it goes relatively quickly: the RD 930 which links Ham to Nesle and Roye, and the RD937 which goes towards Péronne », Estimates the commander of the Ham brigade.
