Lamballe is preparing to welcome the Côtes-d'Armor technical center

A great opportunity

Having become dilapidated and less and less suitable, the buildings of the current departmental technical center, at the port of Légué in Plérin, will soon be vacated by the fifty agents who work there. A desire of the elected representatives of the Department, voted last March, anxious to “improve their working conditions”, argues Nathalie Travers-Le Roux, deputy vice-president for real estate assets. After several unsuccessful visits to the Briochine region, the choice fell on this set of 3,640 m² of premises in perfect condition, 800 m² of hangar and 17,000 m² of exterior plot, in Lamballe-Armor. “An opportunity,” rejoices the elected official, also mayor of Landéhen.

Located at 30, rue d'Armor, in the La Ville-ès-Lan business zone, these buildings built around fifteen years ago were occupied until August 2023 by MS Équipement, Breton leader in equipment agricultural. What attracted the Department, the new owner of the premises? The surface area, configuration, accessibility along the RN12 but above all, the general condition of the premises. “The former occupants were very meticulous,” emphasizes Xavier Hamelin, head of the building maintenance department. There are no dents in the floor, not a gram of dust on the frames, the walls are very healthy. We couldn't find better. »

A big rearrangement

Until now tenant of premises belonging to the Region, the Côtes-d'Armor Department invested €4.5 million to acquire this large real estate site, open to two entrances, and equipped with a garage section (lift, pneumatic installation, etc.). “An interior rearrangement”, budgeted at €480,000 (including tax), is planned. “The objective is to adapt these premises to the needs, both for the mechanical workshop as well as the store, the changing rooms or the offices,” explains Nathalie Travers-Le Roux. We are currently carrying out consultation work with agents, because they are the ones who will use it on a daily basis.” The public procurement procedure having been launched, the start of work will take place “early 2025”.

The departmental technical center will leave the building it occupies on Rabbit Island, in Légué, on the Plérin side, by the end of 2025. (The Telegram)

A great upheaval

The big move from Rabbit Island, in Plérin, to rue d'Armor, in Lamballe should take place next September. Some 200 cars, trucks and tractors, as well as multiple tools and equipment (emulsion tanks, fuel tanks, washing areas, etc.) will then migrate. For mechanics, electricians, floor markers, warehouse workers, secretaries and even accountants, the organization and travel habits will change considerably. Despite a very tense economic situation for the Department, the staffing levels and activity of the technical center should “maintain”, assures the vice-president.
