Passionate people create an association to save this small church in Orne

The association L’Hermitière Heritagenewly created, brings together volunteers attached to local heritage, in partnership with the town hall of Val-au-Perche and the Heritage Foundation.

Its primary objective will be to protect and restore the church of the Most Holy Trinity located in the heart of the village of L'Hermitière, delegated municipality of Val-au-Perche (Orne).

“We are all, at L'Hermitière, among others, very attached to this church which we see deteriorating over the years. This is no longer possible, something must be done to preserve it sustainably. I told myself that if I didn't move, no one would move! So I set up this association to bring together resources, well advised by those around me,” exclaims, Laura de Courson, the president of L’Hermitière Patrimoine.

As a priority, restore the interior of the church

The priority will be to act against the harm of humidity and fight against capillary rise in the walls. Even if there is no major danger, it is especially indoors that we see the most dieback.

There is a beautiful altar that is falling, it will have to be dismantled to completely restore it. The altarpieces are in fairly poor condition and the statues which are made of fake marble need to be repainted because they are peeling everywhere. There is also a small chapel which has been transformed into a sacristy, to be renovated and rehabilitated to its original function…

The association will quickly need money in order to carry out these interior works in the right order. Donors can benefit from a 66% tax deduction.

Classified objects

The Church of the Most Holy Trinity dates from the 17th century^e century. It houses a baptismal font and a 16th century Virgin and Child.^ethree altarpieces from the 18th century^e and a painting from the 17th^e century, classified as historical monuments as objects.

You can also discover a magnificent and very typical beam of glory which marks the separation between the choir and the nave. The small organ, dating from around 1850, has already been recently restored by the Cetonnais organbuilder Guillaume Besnier.
