On November 20, 2024, on the occasion of International Children’s Rights Day, the Zakoura Foundation recalls the urgency of collective mobilization to guarantee inclusive and quality education for every child. It underlines the importance of capitalizing on successes and strengthening synergy between institutional, national and international actors and civil society.
Education is a fundamental right, and it is to guarantee this right to children from rural areas that the Zakoura Foundation has been working for more than two decades. This mission, supported by numerous partners, volunteers and donors, is guided by a common ambition: to build a more equitable society through accessible and quality education. With its slogan “The duty to act”, the Zakoura Foundation is committed to continuing its action and actively contributing to the transformation of the education system within the framework of the New Development Model, aiming for sustainable improvement in quality. of education in Morocco.
27 years of commitment to education In more than a quarter of a century, the Zakoura Foundation has developed socio-educational programs that have directly impacted more than 1,300,000 beneficiaries, including more than 1,200,000 children. Driven by values of solidarity, respect and excellence, it has positioned itself as a pioneer with projects such as the first Non-Formal Education schools, the “Integrated Development of Douars” program, and preschool with notably the National Action for Early Childhood Education in Rural Areas (ANEER) program.
A sustained commitment to preschool
Supporting the royal ambition for the generalization of access to preschool, the Zakoura Foundation, in partnership with the National Initiative for Human Development and the Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports (MENPS), contributed to the creation of 5,133 preschool schools, offering more than 160,000 children this key stage in their development. This essential support for young children remains a priority in the actions of the Zakoura Foundation.
Diversified programs for a lasting impact Beyond preschool education, the Zakoura Foundation is involved in numerous projects to improve the educational experience of children and young people. In particular, it offers academic remediation programs for primary and secondary school students in public schools aimed at achieving academic, social and personal balance for each student. At the same time, the Foundation supports social entrepreneurship and the empowerment of young people and women, thus contributing to economic and social development.
