This Friday, November 22, reservations will be launched and there won't be enough for everyone! “You'll have to be quick, because we estimate that everything will be gone in around ten minutes, if it's like last year! », laughs Jérémy Gomes, in charge of the unusual lodgings in the bay of Morlaix (Finistère). In this case, the island lodges of the Callot and Louët islands. And it is the latter who will be, this Friday, in the spotlight. For almost fifteen years, we have been able to “privatize” this island territory, owned by the Conservatoire du Littoral. “You can live in the old lighthouse keeper’s house (now unused, since the lighthouse is automated, Editor's note), specifies Jérémy Gomes. It is now a gîte that can accommodate up to ten people in simple but fairly complete comfort. »
The Robinsons will be able to find a fitted kitchen and four bedrooms there. The sanitary facilities (shower and sink) are installed in the old “pig pouch” and the toilets in the “fisherman’s shed”, outside the house. You can fully enjoy the landscape on the small south-facing terrace: ideal for nature lovers and a real disconnect!
Having become an unusual gîte at the instigation of the municipality of Carantec in 2008, the former lighthouse keeper's house (co-managed by the town hall and the tourist office) welcomes tenants each year for one or two nights ( 428 euros per night and 709 euros for the weekend — two days and two nights).
Please note that this year, unlike previous years, stays will take place from the beginning of April to the end of August (and not until October). “Renovation and insulation work has been planned for a long time,” says the tourist office. Instead of the usual 106 stays, we will increase to 76! “.
Practical : Reservations can only be made online, via the “Reserve the lighthouse keeper’s house” page on the website www.baiedemorlaix.bzh. Please note that the launch of 2025 reservations for the gîte at the old school on Callot Island will take place on Wednesday, December 18, at 10 a.m.
