As announced at the start of the school year September 2024the system of stands at the Palais des Congrès et de la Culture de Loudéac (Côtes-d'Armor) is hors service. Or at least, you shouldn’t “play” with it too much.

Questioned on the subject during the municipal council of Thursday November 14, 2024the majority of Loudéac explains having made the decision to “leave the convention center in the formula with stands”.

“It’s a decision that we have discussed on several occasions. We used the room in empty floor format 5 or 6 times a year,” admits Bruno Le Bescaut, mayor of Loudéac.

A mechanism from 1989

“It’s an old mechanism which has started to be very difficult since a few years already », complete Gwenaëlle Kervella, culture assistant.

Each time the stands were changed, we had to call the company to come and repair a broken or twisted element. Sometimes down to the millimeter, if you're not on the right axis, it gets stuck.

“The architect who designed this room only made two like this. At the time, at the late 1990sthese stands which folded under the stage, it was innovative. But it’s no longer very suitable today, and it has aged a lot.”

Before considering potential renovations, we prefer to leave the room in bleacher mode. Especially since the arrival of the Vélodrome makes it possible to meet the needs of a room in floor mode. It doesn't really create a shortage in the area.

“The enormity of the construction site”

The culture assistant confirms that the file will await the next term. “The municipality does not have the finances at all to consider such work.”

And added: “We recoil from the enormity of the project, but we will really have to look into it one day.”

« Avant 2016the previous team, when it built the sports center, had studied an entire renovation of the PCC,” says Gwenaëlle Kervella. “But to our arrived in 2016given the state of the City’s finances, it was not at all the priority.”

Today, we are lucky to have a building that is very well maintained and can accommodate the public. There is no vital emergency, but, in my eyes, it will become the emergency of the next mandate. The team that will be in charge will really have to think about its renovation.

Because since its creation in 1989, the building has only undergone minor regular maintenance work.

Ideally, the culture assistant imagines “a real cultural policy on the territory, at the scale of the community of communes. But this is another subject on which we will have to convince the elected officials of the territory.”

And to conclude: “Beyond the economy, housing, sport… We also come to a territory if we can have fun there and practice sports there. cultural activities ».
