The first snowflakes of the season fell in Lozère this Thursday, November 21 early in the morning, as observed on site by France 3 reporters. From 8 a.m., a fine snow began to cover the reliefs above 500 meters altitude. A winter atmosphere that is not expected to last: according to forecasts, these flakes will give way to rain this afternoon

Météo Languedoc reports that snow “is currently falling from 500 meters in Lozère, particularly on Mont-Lozère where the morning promises to be snowy”. However, the rain/snow limit should gradually rise during the day, with sometimes intense precipitation and stronger winds.

Weather models indicate rapidly changing conditions. The first snowflakes from Storm Caetano fell on and on Thursday morning. In total, 54 departments have been placed on orange snow, ice and wind alert by Météo France. The depression will progress towards the north-east of France, leaving the Mediterranean regions on the sidelines. These latter should still be influenced “by intrusions of cold air and successive episodes of warm spells“, underlines Météo Languedoc.
