THE NATIONAL COUNCIL OF THE LAYCAT CONGRATULATES PASTEF ON ITS VICTORY AND SALUTES THE DEMOCRATIC MATURITY OF SENEGAL

The National Council of the Laity of Senegal sent its congratulations to the Pastef party, declared the clear winner of last Sunday’s early legislative elections. In a press release made public, the laity also welcomed the attitude of the other parties and coalitions which took part in this democratic competition. “The National Council of the Laity of Senegal congratulates the Pastef party for its large victory, which reflects the will of the Senegalese people”, underlines the document.

The Council also wanted to pay tribute to the other political parties that participated in the vote for their acceptance of the results. “We encourage the other parties and coalitions which took part in this competition and salute their republican spirit, materialized by their recognition of the results”, specifies the press release.

Sunday’s legislative elections took place in a generally calm climate, strengthening Senegal’s reputation as a bastion of democracy in Africa. The laity expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of the electoral process: “We salute the vitality of Senegalese democracy, marked by the absence of major incidents that could taint the credibility of the election. » The Council invited all political actors to engage in a dynamic of peace and dialogue to preserve this democratic tradition.

The National Council of the Laity concluded by urging stakeholders to ban all recourse to violence, recalling that this is incompatible with the democratic maturity of the country: “Senegalese democracy, recognized for its resilience, does not mix well with violence. It is essential to work to preserve Senegal’s image as a model in Africa. »

With this victory, Pastef and his allies are called upon to honor the trust of the Senegalese by implementing expected reforms, while maintaining national unity and avoiding political tensions.
