A road check by the police takes place Wednesday November 20, 2024 since 2:45 p.m. Saint-Avé (Morbihan). Many police officers are mobilized.

What do the police control?

This control is part of the road safety operations carried out regularly by law enforcement in the department. This Wednesday, November 20, 16 gendarmes are mobilized on a roundabout on departmental road 135B in Saint-Avé for this important operation.

The gendarmes control the driving while drunk and/or under the influence of drugs and dangerous behavior.

Forty-eight vehicles checked

Here is the results of the 48 vehicles checked:

• driving under drugs
• two criminal fixed fines for illicit use of narcotics
• a forgotten belt
• an overload
• a ban on presence in the Morbihan department

Prefectural presence

During this inspection, members of the prefecture are present for a communication operation. Indeed, Ronan Le Page, new chief of staff of the prefect, is present with the soldiers of the gendarmerie group.

Before going to the checkpoint, he went to an approved center for the installation of immobilizer breathalyzers (EAD) in Vannes.

An update on road insecurity figures

The chief of staff will take the opportunity to present the figures for road insecurity in Morbihan to the press. In November, the bar of 40 deaths (42 as of November 20) in road accidents was exceeded for the year 2024.

As a reminder, in 2023, 44 people lost their lives in road accidents.
