“We often idealize a profession…” young people looking for answers at the CCI of Aveyron

Yesterday, the 2nd edition of the Orientation and Training Night was a great success. With more than 370 professionals present at the CCI of Aveyron and 170 professions presented, middle and high school students and parents found answers to their questions.

“Have you always wanted to do this job? », asks a 4th grade student to an employee of Jeune Montagne, who has come to present her profession. “I refined my orientation little by little,” she replies, behind her stand. This is what thousands of young people did yesterday at the CCI of Aveyron. After a successful first year, the 2nd edition of the Orientation and Training Night has grown. From 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., the corridors were always full.

With two amphitheaters open to conferences and a space dedicated to new training, “this event is aimed at our young people so that they understand that in Aveyron, it is possible to train and that companies are ready to welcome them” , explains Dominique Costes, president of the CCI. “The goal is for there to be a crowd and to respond to those who have requests and needs. » Objective achieved with 1,500 middle and high school students, parents, teachers, etc., around 5 p.m.

“It helped me”

“I spoke with professionals, they told me about their daily lives, and that helped me. It allowed me to confirm my choice,” rejoices Nathan, a final year student in the professional baccalaureate, who now knows that he wants to work in banking. Others, like Charles, came without big ideas. The 4th grade student discovered that he could do mini-internships at the CCI to learn more. “We often idealize a profession. You have to be in everyday life to know the reality of a job,” emphasizes his mother, worried.

On the professional side, these meetings are essential. Fabrice Lacan, photovoltaic project manager at Enedis, came to show us his “little-known profession”. “For young people these are abstract professions. We need to introduce them, we are recruiting with the energy transition. » Concerning catering, “we need labor. So we try to transmit our passion. Also, we reassure parents who are worried about working conditions,” says Nicolas Geniez, restaurateur and vice-president of the UMIH of Aveyron.
