Since the beginning of November, Le Mée-sur-Seine (Seine-et-Marne) has hosted a unique establishment of its kind : the Parenting house. Located at 305, avenue du Vercors, near the Maternal and Child Protection center and the MLD, this structure aims to be a pillar for familiesresponding to a growing demand expressed by parents.

A response to concrete needs

The creation of the Parenting House is part of the promises of the yearannounced by the mayor during his greetings. “The parents brought up many questions on education of their children, their orientation towards health professionals or specialized structures during meetings with the mayor,” explains the town hall.

THE problematic encountered ranged from the search for a adapted help for specific disorders to administrative procedures often complex.

Many parents, sometimes distraught, found it difficult to direct yourself to the right peoplea situation shared by some professionals. The town hall hopes that this new structure can effectively meet these needs.

It is a flagship project of the year.

The Parenting House offers a group of professionals health and a diverse workshop program. “There will be different types of health professionals to allow parents to have consultations“, underlines the town hall.

In addition to the services of the existing social center, the workshops, ranging from discussions on the pregnancy has l’adolescence, are completely free and accessible to all. Among the themes that could be addressed include breastfeeding and sessions de coaching parental…

A place of meeting and confidentiality

Although the workshops are held mainly according to administrative schedules, with some sessions on Saturdays, adjustments could be considered depending on the needs expressed.

“Our goal is for parents to take ownership of this structure,” specifies a representative from the town hall. To accommodate parents who prefer a more intimate setting, private consultations have been set up.

This system is “unprecedented in the area”, and the town hall says it is proud to be a pioneer in this area. “It is a project which was largely supported by Ouda Berradia, deputy in charge of solidarity, social affairs and the family”, underlines the town hall, which sees in this Parenting House essential support for parents and parenting professionals.
