Students insulted and mocked by a fake TikTok account from their college in Haute-, management filed a complaint

Friday, November 16, students from Maurice-Genevoix college, in Couzeix, in Haute-, saw several of their photos, published on their personal social networks, end up on a fake TikTok account of the establishment “mauricegenevoix87”.

This account published photos and videos with offensive and mocking remarks. “Some comments were degrading, others reported students' romantic relationships, using screenshots of students' personal accounts,” explains the rectorate of the academy. These comments were not homophobic or racist in nature, but they were offensive, and sometimes sexist.”

Around ten students concerned and received by management

Management reacted quickly and decided to file a complaint on Monday November 18 for “identity theft”. “On Monday, I received around ten students who had seen their photos stolen by this fake account, alerting them to the use of social networks,” continues Corinne Ruffinoni, the principal of the Couzeix college. I also warned the parents of these students by alerting them to the use of social networks for their children and the impact that this can have on them. »

The identity of the person behind this nickname is not yet known, but it could be a student of the establishment, according to the principal of the college. If the account has not been deleted, the content posted on Friday has completely disappeared.

A first for the Maurice-Genevoix college which reminds us of the dangers of social networks. “I also reminded parents that the numerical majority has been set by law at 15 years. In my opinion, in middle school, children are not able to use social networks and that parents also have a role to play in the use of a mobile phone,” recalls Corinne Ruffinoni.
