The speed is thus lowered by 20 km/h on all roads in the departments of Paris, Yvelines, Val-d'Oise, Seine-et-Marne, Essonne, Hauts-de-Seine, Seine-Saint-Denis and Val-de-Marne.

“Overtaking maneuvers for vehicles weighing more than 7.5 tonnes on the main roads of Ile-de-France” are also prohibited, specifies the prefecture, which urges road users to exercise caution. She advises to favor public transport and if this is not possible, to plan “minimum equipment (warm clothing, food, water, etc.) in case you are forced to wait several hours on the road in your vehicle”.

In total, 49 departments were placed on orange alert from Thursday morning by Météo-France, 32 for snow and ice on an axis going from North Brittany to the Grand-Est, and 17 for strong winds further south.
