Strong gale in the south this Thursday: up to 130 km/h on the Aquitaine coast, ORANGE alert

This Thursday morning, weather conditions will deteriorate significantly on the Atlantic coast with the arrival of a depression at 984 hPa which will bring a gale to strong gale to the coast. It is on the Charente and Aquitaine coasts that the winds will blow the strongest with maximum gusts of 100 to 120 km/h. Gusts of 90 to 110 km/h are expected on the " rel="tag">Pays de la Loire coastline.

In the afternoon, the depression will move eastward and strong winds will reach the central regions. Gusts from west to southwest of 80 to 90 km/h will affect Limousin, Auvergne, the south of Center-Val de Loire and Burgundy. On the heights of the Massif Central, gusts could exceed the 100 km/h mark. In the evening, the southwest wind will strengthen significantly from the Alps to Corsica. The strongest winds will affect the Alpine terrain and the north of Corsica with gusts of more than 100 km/h. The southerly wind may blow strongly in the Lyonnais and the Alpine valleys with gusts of 80-90 km/h.

During the night from Thursday to Friday, the depression will evacuate towards Central Europe. Only the Mediterranean regions will maintain strong winds on Friday with gusts which could still exceed the 100 km/h mark on the Corsican mountains and the ends of the island.

Note that this strong gust of wind, which is not exceptional for late autumn, will require you to be careful if you have to take the road or work outdoors. Several departments are already placed on ORANGE alert by our METEO CONSULT services.
