In Reunion, the Durieux private surgery and endoscopy clinic

On November 5, 2024, the Regional Health Agency made the decision to suspend surgery and endoscopy activities at the Durieux clinic. For two weeks, surgical activity has been at a standstill in this healthcare establishment which employs 200 people.

There were around forty of them on the square in front of the Durieux clinic, on Wednesday November 13, 2024. Caregivers, for the most part, gathered to demand the resumption of activities at the Tampon establishment, in the south of Reunion. On November 5, the decision of the regional health agency (ARS) “to suspend surgery and endoscopy activities” fell like a blade on the clinic. “This decision follows an inspection carried out by ARS teams, having noted numerous shortcomings in the management of health risks and the control of the quality and safety of care within the establishment,” underlines the ARS in a press release.
