A collision involving two motorists caused panic on the A20, Wednesday November 20, 2024 in Caussade, in Tarn-et-Garonne. Emergency services quickly evacuated the victims, who were slightly injured, after the temporary closure of the road at the request of prefect Vincent Roberti.

Around 10:15 a.m., a driver of British origin found herself, for a reason that remains to be determined, in the wrong direction of traffic in the Brive – direction. A driver suddenly found herself facing this vehicle. It is not known whether one of the two vehicles made a maneuver to avoid a head-on collision, but the two vehicles still collided.

Informed that a motorized vehicle was traveling in the wrong direction on the A20, the prefect of Tarn-et-Garonne, in agreement with the Vinci concessionaire, ordered the closure of the axis, imposing a compulsory exit and prohibiting any entry to toll n °59 in Caussade.

Warned, firefighters from the SDIS (Departmental Fire and Rescue Service) of Tarn-et-Garonne intervened to help the injured, whose two vehicles were 200 meters away. One of the victims, a 76-year-old woman, and the other, a 34-year-old woman, both slightly injured, were taken to the emergency room of Montauban hospital.

The EDSR gendarmes of Tarn-et-Garonne secured the scene before carrying out their findings. ASF (Autoroutes du Sud de la ) agents marked out the accident area.
