After a first day of mobilization focused on denouncing the Mercosur free trade treaty, currently under negotiation, Deux-Sévrien farmers once again “brought out the tractors”Tuesday November 19, 2024, to warn of the dangers that endanger their profession.
The procession departed from the Noron exhibition center, in Niort, around 9:30 a.m. A time that owes nothing to chance, chosen so as not to block motorists leaving for work.

Without a hitch and in calm, as claimed several times by the members of the Fédération des syndicats agricole des Deux-Sèvres, a dozen tractors set off for a journey lasting a little over two hours in the streets of Niort. They took Avenue de La Rochelle, around 10:30 a.m., then the ring road, before reaching Avenue de Limoges at 11:20 a.m.
The farmers organized a barbecue open to all, Place de la Brèche, to taste French products.

A good-natured barbecue
Destination: Place de la Brèche, in the city center of Niort, where a barbecue open to all was held, showcasing French products. At the same time, the presidents of the Young Farmers and the Federation of Agricultural Unions of Deux-Sèvres were received by the prefect, Emmanuelle Dubée, from whom they obtained exceptional measures, motivated by the climatic difficulties encountered by the farmers of the department, in 2024.
As an exchange of good manners, the procession left Place de la Brèche smoothly, at around 3 p.m. and under police escort. With the idea, again, of not stopping traffic during rush hours.
