At 50, François de Keréver takes on the role of prefect for the first time, succeeding Stéphane Rouvé who was the representative of the State for 30 months in the Côtes-d’Armor. His assumption of duty was made official on Monday November 11, 2024 in Saint-Brieuc.
From history teacher to state representative
Originally from Finistère, his first job was as a history and geography teacher in Versailles and Vendée after studying in Rennes. “I didn't come back in Brittany since that time,” he notes with the satisfaction of rediscovering part of his roots.
Passed the senior administration competition in 2011, Jean-Jacques Rousseau promotion, François de Keréver was then assigned to Ministry of the Interior.
First chief of staff of the prefect in Sarthe, then in Martinique, he then made a specialty of overseas territories to the point of being appointed during the last four years overseas advisor to the President of the Republic.
Au contact
The new prefect of Côtes-d’Armor displays a desire “togo to meet actors from all economic sectors, as well as elected officials and residents.”
A process initiated the day after his arrival with representatives of the agricultural world (Chamber of Agriculture, FDSEA) at a farmer in Plounévez-Moëdec.
I observed that here we discuss very well, with the aim of finding solutions.
Without commenting on the Mercosur file, “France's position is clear on the subject”, François de Keréver agrees that there are still efforts to be made in terms of simplification administrative“this is an objective given to us by the Government”.
“Working together”
With elected officials, he intends to quickly address the question of “ public expenditure managementin the context of a constrained budget”, but also that of access to cares “which requires a dialogue on substance and it will have to be done quickly”.
Elected officials to whom he assures that the State and law enforcement will be at their side to support and protect them in the event of an attack on their integrity.
Like everywhere in France, public safety is at the heart of concerns. If the prevalence of alcohol and domestic violence come first in Côtes-d'Armor, drug trafficking has also increased in recent years. The tone is firm: it will be zero tolerance.
As for the green algae“there is nothing to hide, rather we have to work together to stem the phenomenon”.
